Green’s regular childhood excursions on the bus stand out as some of the most enduring memories of his childhood, and he always held the operators who made them possible in high esteem. Now he relishes the chance to provide safe, pleasant, and memorable commutes for his riders.
A native of New Orleans’ Lower Ninth Ward, Green has lived on the Westbank for the past twenty-five years. Eighteen of those years have been spent as a bus operator—with a five year stint as an operations supervisor—on just about all of Jefferson Transit’s Westbank routes. He currently operates the Huey P. Long and Westbank Expressway routes.
Green is a leader in the local Westbank operators’ union and a respected colleague and employee. According to Derrick Breun, General Manager for Veolia Transportation, Green is a “devoted” driver, one who “surely . . . sees the greater good that his career serves.” Green was recently recognized for his steadfast service during and after Hurricane Katrina. His wife, Mary, is also a bus operator for Jefferson Parish.
